Go Green with Natural Soy Candles

by RichlyScented on July 16, 2008

A clean environment does not come just from reducing automobile emissions, and natural soy candles are a testimony to that fact. After centuries of using paraffin wax on a widespread basis, candle sticks are now being considered as one of the hazards to the environment as well as the human health – something that had been, by and large, overlooked earlier. Natural soy candles strive to minimize these hazards as a cleaner and more eco-friendly alternative.

One of the main differences that the manufacture of natural soy candles bears with the manufacture of ordinary (or non-natural) paraffin wax ones is the fact that while the latter relies mainly on the oil industry, the former relies largely on the agricultural sector.

Soybean wax is produced organically, which is one of the reasons for its environment friendliness.

As the name indicates, the primary agro-based component required for the manufacture of natural soy candles is the soybean. Ingredients other than soybeans include vegetable waxes. Other than imparting cleanness to the environment and especially to the atmosphere, they have a positive impact on human life as well. There are a number of factors that make them better than their counterparts:

  1. Non-carcinogenic: Natural soy candles are non-carcinogenic, meaning that the vapors emitted during the burning do not result in cancer when they come in contact with human tissues. On the other hand, when paraffin wax is burnt, the emissions can often cause diseases like cancer when they are inhaled.
  2. Non-toxic: The gases emitted by these natural soy candles have minimum toxicity towards human life. Paraffin wax, on the other hand, can have several toxic effects on the respiratory system.
  3. Full utilization of wax: A huge advantage about using natural soy candles is the extraordinary fact that unlike paraffin candle sticks; nearly all the wax is utilized. This results in a greater longevity, which implies a longer duration of illumination.
  4. Reduced soot: One of the worst aspects of ordinary products is the amount of soot that they result in – a problem that soy-based candles rectify to a large extent.
  5. Biodegradable: Natural soy candles are biodegradable and can even be cleaned up with ease.

Economic advantages

It is quite obvious to question whether it is feasible for any economy to make large investments in the industry of natural soy candles. It cannot be denied that this requires lot of expenditure in order to be manufactured.

On the other hand, in countries where the agricultural sector thrives more than the petroleum-based products sector, the manufacture of this commodity just might be the answer to most economic problems.

Since the ingredients are resources that can be easily renewed in such countries, the manufacture of natural soy candles can result in huge benefits for the economy.

From the economy to the environment, natural soy candles seem to be an excellent solution.
